La presente edición recopila artículos periodísticos de Maeztu escritos durante su exilio americano con unas líneas temáticas bien definidas: artículos que apoyan su incansable lucha por la educación femenina; críticas literarias de textos que marcaron su formación; reportajes que narran su profundo conocimiento de los colleges americanos femeninos; ensayos académicos y de divulgación sobre pedagogía; comparaciones entre distintos sistemas de enseñanza; y artículos sobre el feminismo inglés y la educación del hombre moderno. Asimismo, se recogen entrevistas periodísticas concedidas por Maeztu. Carmen de Urioste Azcorra. Es catedrática de literatura española en la Universidad Estatal de Arizona, donde imparte clases de literatura contemporánea, cultura del siglo XX y crítica literaria. Es autora de Novela y sociedad en la España contemporánea (1994-2009) (2009), Narrativa andaluza (1900-1936): Erotismo, feminismo y regionalismo (1997), co-autora de The Writer's Reference Guide to Spanish (1999) y co-editora de dos antologías, Literatura española: una antología (1995) y Spanish Literature (2000). También es autora de una edición crítica de Cuentos judíos contemporáneos (2011), editados y prologados a principios del siglo XX por Rafael Cansinos Assens. Con la editorial Renacimiento ha publicado una edición crítica de La casa de enfrente (2013), única novela de la poeta de la Generación del 27 Ernestina de Champou.
