Original publisher's wraps. Spine deteriorated and separated into several sections. Inner front hinge tape repaired. Some foxing to pages, small tears to edges. Needs resewing or rebinding. No pages missing and most tissue guards present. Excursion took place in 1803 but author died in May 1804. Commentary on such locations as Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Sheffield, Pontefract, Leeds, Ripon, Fountains Abbey, York, etc.

Subjects: Painting. Derbyshire (England) - Description and travel. Yorkshire (England) - Description and travel. Note: Edward Dayes was watercolour painter and engraver in mezzotint. He studied under William Pether, and began to exhibit at the Royal Academy in 1786, sending views of Waltham and Canterbury; in the three following years he exhibited miniatures as well as landscapes. He continued to exhibit there regularly till the year of his death, contributing in all sixty-four works. 3 Kg.

Minor bumping to the spine and extremities, with a little loss to the head of the spine. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots. Good. book.
