The first edition of this uncommon work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Loosely inserted is a postcard, referring to the owner's discussion about Warren R. Dawson's introduction and his mistaken ideas regarding 'dry natron'. A small post-it note on this subject is adhered to page xi. Illustrated with a frontispiece and thirty-seven plates to the rear. Collated, complete. Volume I of a seven-volume set recording a catalogue of Egyptian antiquities held in the British Museum. This volume, compiled by Warren R. Dawson and P. H. K. Gray, focuses on mummies and human remains. The mummy collection in the British Museum dates back almost to the time of the foundation of the Museum. This work examines the collection in detail, describing each body and noting its provenance. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is very smart condition with just a little sunning to the spine. Fine. book.
