Spiralbound. Declassified version of 1953 study. 2 volume set. Volume I xxiii, 261, Volume II, v, 263-537 pages. Footnotes. Charts. Glossary of Abbreviations. This was produced by the Historical Division of the Joint Secretariat. When first issued in 1953 the two volumes on the origin and organizaitonal development of the Jint Chiefs of Staff in World War II were clasified SECRET. Release of the unclassified edition was enabled by the general declassification so the World War II JCS and CCS records. The preparation of the unclassified edition involve donly a small number of deletions, the correction of several garbled passages, and a few alterations made in the interest of clarity. Otherwise the text appears as originally written, without additon or reinterpretation. The footnotes are also substantially unchanged. The author of the 1953 study also oversaw the production of the unclassified version (see second Preface). Good. Covers have some wear and soiling.
