The second edition of Volume I, published in the same year as the first edition, and the first edition of Volume II, of this two-volume work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Ink inscription to the front free end paper of Volume II, dated 1935. Sir Walter Alexander Raleigh (1861-1922) was an English scholar, poet, and author, probaly best known for the poem 'Wishes of an Elderly Man, Wished at a Garden Party, June 1914'. This is a two-volume collection of his letters from 1879 to 1922, which piece together interesting insights into his life and work. This collection was edited by Lady Raleigh, with a preface by David Nichol Smith. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart and bright, with just a little bumping to the upper extremity of the front board of Volume II. Internally, firmly bound.
