[NONE] 1902. (hardcover) Very good. 348pp. 8vo. No edition stated. Frontispiece, with tissue guard, a fine portraiture. Green cloth, blind blocked, gilt title to spine. Light foxing and tanning to the endpapers and tissue guard and some scuffs, staining and marking to the boards, as may be anticipated. Pages remain remarkably clean and bright. Solid binding. No jacket, presumed as issued. Very good to near fine copy. Edited by his son, Francis Darwin, Fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge. With a portrait. Sixth thousand in this form.

Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Later edition. Foreword by George Gaylord Simpson. Two volumes. Both volumes near fine with a tanned spine, with volume two having a tiny hole in the spine. Both lacking the dustwrappers, but both are inside the publisher's slip case.

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. 7 5/8" x 4 7/8", viii, 394 pp, viii, 394 pages, 21 text figures, 7 Heliotype plates, placed as directed. Charles Darwin had collected material with a view to a new edition; following his death, Francis Darwin, his son, used this material, consisting of a mass of letters, extracts from and references to books, pamphlets and reviews, to revise and enlarge this second edition. Hb, bound in the original dark green cloth, blind rulings to upper and lower board, gilt titling to spine, dark olive green endpapers. Plates are tissue-guarded. Boards are in very good condition, just a little rubbing to the publishers name and gilt decoration at lower spine, and just very slightly rubbed at corners; front hinges are weak, but holding, inevitably having separated front endpapers along the spine, rear hinges are tight. Slight surface loss to front endpapers towards upper edge. Early pencil notes - 'latest edn with plates' and booksellers' prices on the pages preceding the title-page. Very occasional light foxing on early pages, pencil marginal lines in a couple of places. Generally a very good copy, with a nice original binding.

Light edgewear, tiny rubbed spot on the lower shoulder and small light stain on lower board, both hinges neatly strengthened, very good or better. A bright copy.

Black and white frontis etching of sitting Darwin. About fine. Note, we took the photo of the books on our desk to show that we have them and this is not a "stock" photo from someone else's bks. Red leather tips and spine w marbled boards, red spine, gilt title.
