Shelved in Room A octavo overflow. Part of the "Select Medical Library" series by a publisher in Philadelphia, this book is an example of a trend in the 1830s and -40s where American publishers frequently printed European medical texts in monthly installments and then offered them bound together into annual volumes for doctors and medical students. Before international copyright laws and fast transatlantic shipping were established, these American reprints helped local physicians stay up-to-date at an affordable cost. 1415471.
