John Galt was a renowned Scottish novelist and essayist, admired for his depiction of country life and for his notable use of local Scots dialect in order to create vivid and subtle social landscapes. This set is copiously illustrated throughout by the renowned English line artistâ and book illustrator, Charles Edmund Brock. Brock was a prolific illustrator in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, producingworks for such renowned authors as Jonathan Swift, William Thackeray, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and George Eliot.
