Collated complete.Originating from a request by his brother to write him a book, Fortescue wanted to create a story that celebrated one of our native animals, rather than a human, and so he wrote a tale following the life of the red-deer. Accompanied with beautiful illustrations, the reader also encounters other friends and foes of the red-deer, including pheasants and foxes. In the publisher's original green cloth. Externally, very smart, with bright clean boards. Minor edgewear and knocking to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Slight offsetting to free end papers, with previous owner's inscription to the front free end paper. Internally, firmly bound.
