Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Poor. 1st Edition. DAGESTAN DECORATIVE ART CERAMICS METALWORK STONE & WOOD RUGS 1971 TRILINGUAL. I recently discovered that I could use my iPhone to translate various languages without having to transcribe them, by taking a photo of the text in question and getting an automated translation. This has allowed me to offer books in Russian where wading through the Cyrillic script was too difficult. So here is a rare one that has lanquished on my bookshelf because of the language issue. Please find an example of the same, this book titled: Dagestan Decorative Art compiled by D. Chirkov and with an Introduction by Rasul Gamzatov. This book covers the four major art forms of ceramics, decorative metalwork, stone and wood carving and tapestry, weaving and knitting. The book is very well illustrated with a number of plates for each type, to wit: ceramics- 41; metalwork- 65; stone & wood carving- 21; and tapestry, weaving & knitting- 33. This book is trilingual, and all the text and explanations are offered in Russian, French and English. This large hard cover book (9 x 13 ¼ inches, 280 pages) was published by the Sovietsky Khudozhnik Publishers of Moscow, dated 1971. The book is bound in yellow cloth with black titles on cover and spine and protected by a once glossy printed dust jacket. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The same cannot be said for the dust jacket which is torn and inexpertly repaired and needs more of the same. The hard covers are generally clean and the titles bright, but they have some very light foxing along the upper and lower edges (please see the photos). Inside a former owner has left her name and date on the front endpaper but this is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages are clean and bright without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
