The great moralist La Rochefoucauld's most enduring work, published in Lyon, a decade after his death. Includes a contribution from the great salonnie?re De Sable? (who wrote her maxims before him and whom Duplessis rated just as highly). D'Ailly's authorship was little known in bibliographies until relatively recently, he also frequented her salon.
