Contemporary speckled calf, with raised bands and gilt volume numbers and ruling to spines. No titles. Volume I lacks pp.13/14. Some heavy brown staining to pp.23/24 and facing plate in volume I. A horizontal tear right across pp.49/50 in volume IV. Moderate general spotting and toning throughout, with heavier thumbing to fore-edge of volume I. Black ink ownership of J.B. Crompton to fly-leaf of each volume, dated 1794, and very small black ink ownerships to each title page, dated 1766. Moderate wear and bumping to bindings; joints split or starting, with sturdy cloth reinforcements to all hinges. Good. Motteux's English translation was first published in 1700-03, and revised by Ozell from 1719. ESTC: T59498.
