Collated, lacking plate no I, which should be a hand coloured botanical plate.Undated; dated 1842 via the University of Bristol Libraries.Inscription to verso of plate II.Written by Nicholas Culpeper, a botanist, herbalist, and astrologer. He spent most of his life cataloguing medicinal herbs, and was briefly accused of witchcraft in the English Civil War. He was a relative of Thomas Culpeper, the lover of Catherine Howard, who was beheaded on order of Henry VIII. In a full cloth binding. Handling marks to boards, with bump to back strip head, and small bump to centre of back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Engraved title page laid down, with losses to perimeters.
