Unclipped dust jacket shows a faint bit of edge wear, with the light beginnings of a curl and some very light rubbing from shelf life, though no tears, splits, or loss, and this is hardly noticeable; light blue pressed paper boards with white titling sharp and sturdy with no damage or notable wear; binding tight, square, and secure; pages glossy and unmarked with little-to-no sign of previous ownership. Essay by Russell Banks. As in his earlier "Twilight" series, each elaborately choreographed image depicts an emotionally heightened moment in which something very important (although we never quite know what) seems to have happened or is about to happen. Like film stills from unmade movies, these photographs portray mysterious unknowable stories which are reduced to a single, static, highly charged image.
