With many gorgeous b/w photo-reproductions, a fine copy Arnold Crane (1934-2014) was an american photographer."Crane has worked as a photographer since his youth and documented incidents such as major crime scenes, earthquakes, fires and political events and was published in various U.S. magazines. After receiving his Doctor of Juris prudence, he temporarily stopped working as a photographer, but started again in 1983, inspired by a friendship with the photographer Man Ray. His monograph »On the Other Side of the Camera«, already out of print, offers a complete collection of all the artists' portraits Crane has created over the years. The book won the renowned KODAK Photo Book Award in 1995, the year of its publication. For example one of Crane's portraits of Walker Evans was used as the frontispiece for the book »Walker Evans Decade by Decade«, published in 2010. He was selected as one of 100 New York Photographers in a book of the same name in 2009. His work has been shown in many exhibitions in international galleries and museums. They are part of collections of the Metropolitan Museum of New York, Museum of Modern Art in New York and The Art Institute in Chicago. He regularly holds seminars and lectures about photography. Arnold Crane has worn many hats. Starting out as a portrait photographer, a press photographer, a photojournalist/author, a curator of photography, and so forth Arnold Crane has been a photographer for the last 62 years, although he started out as a trial lawyer. Arnold's passion for photography has taken him to all corners of the globe. He is a member of the White House Press Photographers Association, and he is well known for his black and white female nudes. Arnold's most important contribution to photography, however, began after a chance meeting with Edward Steichen, curator of photography at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, in the late 1960's. Steichen, after seeing some of Arnold's candid shots of Man Ray, suggested that he photograph "all the photographers". And so, a project thirty years in the making was born.
