First Edition. Good copy in contemporary half calf over marbled boards, retaining 31 of the 32 original plates. Boards now lightly scuffed. Corners slightly bumped, with light wear to the panel edges. Spine gilt-tooled with black leather labels; joints and endbands showing moderate wear. Marbled edges; bookplate on front pastedown. Preliminary leaves foxed and coming loose from the head; light foxing to the final leaves, plates, and their facing text leaves (and similarly light offsetting). Plate facing p. 92 loose; except as noted, the text block remains tight and clean on the whole. A well-preserved example.
