In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good Indeed. Various (illustrator). First edition. A charming 2 volume set of the 'The New Flora and Silva' quarterly magazine, edited by E. H. M. Cox. Euan Hillhouse Methven Cox was a Scottish plant collector, botanist, and horticulturist, who accompanied Reginald Farrer on his last botanical expedition to Burma and its border with China, from 1919 to 1920. He was a very successful propagator of rhododendrons and had an extensive collection in his garden at Glendoick, Perthshire, Scotland, which formed the basis of his commercial nursery. Cox also had a keen interest in garden writing, opening a bookshop in London in 1920 that specialised in horticulture and plant hunting. Moreover, Cox also worked as an editor for 'Country Life Magazine', and this journal, the 'The New Flora and Silva' magazine. This two volume set contains issue No. 14 (being vol. IV, No. 2) for January 1932, and No.15 (being vol IV, No. 3) for April 1932. Collated, complete with numerous monochromatic illustrations and photographic plates to each volume, with a coloured photographic plate facing page 106, volume 'January 1932'. Each volume is in the publisher's original paper wraps, with a contents page to the front wrap and an advertisement for 'Dobbies Edinburgh' to rear wrap. Featuring contemporary advertisements to the front and rear of each volume. In original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart. Small closed tears to extremities.
