Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Facsimile Dustjacket. First UK revised edition, first impressi. First UK revised edition, first impression, containing Fitzgerald's final version of his last novel (1934). The Grey Walls Press spearheaded the UK revival of Fitzgerald in the 1940s, the same decade that US publishers rescued him from obscurity and established his reputation among the all-time great American novelists.- The text is based on Fitzgerald's own annotated copy, of which he stated, "This is the final version of the book as I would like it" - The "final revisions" refer to Fitzgerald's attempts to improve the novel after its initial publication. Malcolm Cowley, a literary critic and friend of Fitzgerald, often wrote prefaces for editions of Fitzgerald's work. - The Grey Walls Press was founded by the poet and editor Charles Wrey Gardiner (1901-1981) in Billericay, Essex, in 1940 and operated until 1954. - The Book : The accompanying facsimile dustjacket was reproduced from the First Grey Walls Press Printing from 1953. It retains the amazing greytone colouring and has the price on the inner prelim. 12s.6d net.- The jacket design,by Edward Pagram: showing a gritty panoramic street scene, evidences the press's bold style of cover art. - I do not state on the dustjacket that it is a facsimile, nor do I put my business name on it. My facsimile dustjackets are a true representation of the originals, without modification. The dustjackets are printed on acid free paper and enclosed in durable plastic archival sleeves for longevity and future protection. The dustjacket is as true a representation as possible. - Green cloth boards with faded white lettering to the spine.Very nice clean condition. Corners are very lightly scuffed. Block is strong. All beneath the vibrant facsimile dustjacket that houses the book. - The blank endpages are adhered to the inner respective boards front and rear. This was often done to strengthen the page block. Reinforced margins front and rear and occasionally throughout the page block. Foxing and occasional soiling throughout. Pastedown of the main character Dick Diver on the copyright page. Looks good. - E N D - Our orders are shipped within 1 or 2 business days. - Thanks for your interest and I hope you like the book enough to buy it. Edward Pagram (illustrator).
