This booklet sets out in simple note form the essence of the law on historic buildings and sites, summarised from many Acts of Parliament and certain Regualtions and Directions under the Planning Acts. The gist of certain Ministry Circulars is also included. It is hoped that this summary guide may be of some help to Authorities generally, and to societies or individual people interested in the problem of protecting the national heritage of fine architecture, buildings or sites with historic associations, or just the pleasant character of towns and villages.
