Vintage reference photograph of actor Fernando Lamas from the 1951 film. A woman and her father go to Paris where, unbeknownst to her, her mother lives. She meets a man, but her father tries to keep her from marrying because he feels it would be a mistake. Lamas began acting on screen in the 1940s in his home country of Argentina, where he was a big star in films like "La rubia Mireya" (1949) and "Story of a Bad Woman" (1948). In the 1950s he signed a contract with MGM and began acting in American films and musicals, including "The Merry Widow" (1952). He is also known for "The Cheap Detective" (1978) and "The Law and the Lady" (1951). Set and partially shot on location in Paris. 1.75 x 2.5 inches. Very Good plus, with a crease at the top left corner.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - What is it with the Hoosier state that inspires authors from all over the world to dredge up their darkest visions to make readers tremble and shudder Could it be the ghost towns that dot the landscape Or do we fear the living ghosts that walk its cities, large and small, that breed and fester on dashed hope and creeping dread Or do their dark writings mirror the thoughts we thought we had buried deep beneath layers of civility, exposing them for what they are, reflections of the darkness all around us, propagated through us and our offspring, who emulate and improve on our own wickedness Contributors to this edition: Dona Fox, Alexis Child, H.R. First Edition. Brief autograph letter of 20 lines (ca. 65 words), on a single sheet of generic stationery, folded to make 4pp. Old horizontal folds from mailing, else Near Fine. Signed in full by Phillips at close, with note regarding the recipient to left of signature: "Wm. Richard." The letter, from the prominent Boston abolitionist and reformer Wendell Phillips, solicits funds to aid a "Mrs. Nell." The reference is to the widow of Black abolitionist William Cooper Nell, who had died four days earlier on May 26, 1874: "Dear Friend / we all remember Nell - so I need not add a word to what Garrison has said in the circular I enclose [this circular not present]. Mrs. Nell was originally a hairdresser & we wish to aid her a little in supporting herself & her children until she can work back into her old trade & get customers." The precise identity of the recipient is unclear, but an attractive letter nonetheless, capturing a notable relationship among Boston abolitionists who came to prominence in the antebellum period. Signed.
