In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. First Edition. First impression of the true first edition of this selection - one of the books in the Jonathan Cape 'Essential' series. Illustrated throughout within the text by A. B. Frost. ***Near fine in green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. Boards beautifully clean and unmarked, with just a small patch of fading at the tail of the spine where there is a small chip to the dustwrapper. The spine is slightly discoloured. Tail of spine just very slightly creased. Corners sharp. Edges of text-block also very clean. No foxing. No inscriptions. Interior pages clean. Spine tight. ***In a very good original illustrated dustwrapper, which retains the original publisher's printed price of 10s. 6d. net on the front flap. The dustwrapper is complete except for just a small loss at top and tail of the spine, not affecting the title lettering. The spine of the dustwrapper is slightly faded, and the rear panel is slightly marked, which shows more as it is a light cream colour. Apart from very light edge-wear and light creasing, there are no significant faults. Very uncommon thus. ***205mm x 140mm. 288 pages. ***Contents: Preface followed by sixty stories and a list of the original books that the stories appeared in at the rear of the book. ***'A collection of sixty stories by the author of Brer Rabbit. ***'xl'. [Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper] ***A post-war Jonathan Cape edition of 'The Essential Uncle Remus', being the first impression of this collection, in very nice clean and tight solid condition, with the original dustwrapper. First editions of this title in original dustwrappers in such complete and undamaged condition are now very hard to find. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. A.
