Erstausgabe
First edition. An attractive but incomplete copy of this rare work of Classical mythological illustrations. The book is complete with the engraved title and 20 plates, but it lacks the engraved frontis illustration. Contemporary or slightly later buckram spine and corners with marbled boards. These are a little rubbed and marked but substantially sound. Small amount of loss to the head of the spine. (the original binding was a printed cardboard binding which emulated the title page. Our copy begins at the title. We have compared it to a copy in the Napoli library, and the plates themselves are identical (except they have the frontis). The pages and plates are attractive, but have a little marking and darkening to them. Attractive plates by Lecerf throughout. 64 pages. 12cm x 19cm. .
