An important contribution to the history of publishing and printing in Spain. ; La historia de las pequeñas editoriales españolas es lagunar: la documentación original suele ser escasa y de difícil acceso. Así sucede con los mismos pliegos de cordel, que con frecuencia no sobrevivieron el paso del tiempo. Este libro tiene como finalidad la recuperación, catalogación y valoración de los pliegos impresos en el siglo XIX por José María Moreno, para allanar el camino a su estudio literario o lingüístico y para comprender las prácticas socioculturales que gravitan en torno a este particular formato editorial. La materialidad de los textos es el punto de partida de la presente monografía, cuyo enfoque interdisciplinar abarca las ciencias históricas, literarias y bibliográficas. Cada capítulo tiene su propia perspectiva, desde reflexiones terminológicas hasta la catalogación de un fondo, pasando por la reconstrucción (lamentablemente parcial) de la vida y actividad del impresor andaluz. El resultado contribuye a un mejor conocimiento y una mejor comprensión tanto del pasado como del presente, al propiciar una reflexión acerca de las condiciones de la creación literaria, el afán noticiero, la selección de lo que se publica o deja de publicar, la manipulación de la historia o la difusión de estereotipos.
