Slight fading of the spine. Contents very good. ?This is an unsettling observation of the experience of globalisation: where we are, who we are and what we are, we can?t quite say. Perhaps the sense of anxiety and disconnection apparent in these images is also a manifestation of the personal and social controls and restrictions we submit ourselves to.? Spiral Bound. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. Limited / Numbered. Designed by Catherine Griffiths. Minor soiling of covers. Numbered 78/600 and signed by Bruce Connew and Dean Te Au. Also a dedication inside front cover signed by Dean. ?Muttonbirds - part of a story? was published in 2004 by Vapour Momenta Books, to coincide with the exhibition launch at McNamara Gallery, Whanganui, New Zealand. A Wellington, New Zealand publisher said the book was ?a bomb in plain wrapping? It was a contentious project from the get-go, a man attempting to reclaim what he had proved through the Maori Land Court was his and his children?s right. "I?ve stood in front of the tribe in the correct way. I have my rightful interests and I will stand up for them. I want my children to get on with what it?s really about: muttonbirding, enjoying the world of their ancestors and the treasures they left." Dean Tiemi te Au. Signed by Author & Photographe.

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine condition. First edition, limited. 415/600. Sextodecimo. Unpaginated. Original yellow quarter cloth over gray heavy boards with white lettering on cover. Black endpapers. Title printed to three pages, one word per page. Signed and hand-numbered on colophon at rear. Design by Catherine Griffiths and Bruce Connew. "I looked out the window down to the pocket-sized figures about the public car park, half a kilometre away as the crow flies, and said to myself, "Peter Bialobrzeski, damn it, you're right, there's work to be done here. No shilly-shallying. I'll watch these people, and I'll photograph them. They won't know. How good is that, Peter Bialobrzeski, how simple is that?" For twelve months, from the top floor of home, veiled behind an apron of black velvet, through double-glazing and a long lens, I photographed the comings and goings of a car park, an ample piece of reclaiming Wellington land that juts out into the bay, a family beach to one side. Surveillance is routine nowadays. It's everywhere. It's everywhere. We've come to expect it; we've even come to embrace it. It promises social order. Then I took away some of their identity and shuffled them together." (Bruce Connew). Illustrated with fifty-two color photographs, altered and produced in photogravure.
