First Edition. First Edition. Illustrated with drawings and photographs. 1 vols. 8vo. Eugene V. Connett, III, (1891-1969) established and ran The Derrydale Press throughout its fifteen year existance 1926-1941, producing about 170 of the finest sporting books ever published in America, plus a series of superb sporting prints. At the time this 1912 Class Record was published, however, he was running the family hat factory, and was induced to write an article for the Record entitled "The Factory Manager" reflecting his thoughts (largely favorable) of being in such a job. In 1922 Scribner's published Connett's first book, Wing Shooting and Angling, and three years later he sold the hat business and turned, slowly, to publishing. It is interesting in view of his later career as the doyen of sporting publishers, that for the Record he wrote, "Suppose that I had the choice of occupation to make over again, what would I do? Well, it would be production of some kind; I like to work in a factory, to deal with workmen and see raw material turned into a finished product." It was production, indeed: the near-legendary output of The Derrydale Press. Original orange and black pictorial boards, spine lacking, internally fine Illustrated with drawings and photographs. 1 vols. 8vo.
The Derrydale Press: NY 1930. Illus, 12.5 x 9.75", gilt-stamped cloth, 249 w/index, teg, occasional foxing & spotting, extremities worn, back covers dampspotted else ok. LIMITED TO 850 COPIES.

The verso of the title page has a different limitation statement, "950 copies for England and America", instead of "De Luxe edition 56 copies | Regular edition 850 copies" and indicates Connett printed an additional hundred copies for the English market. Hutchinson published an English edition of Connett's Any Luck? this same year (1935).
