Duodecimo (169 x 112 mm), original cream wrappers with black lettering and border to front (a little dusty, small loss to paper at spine ends); pp. 39; large folding woodblock-printed map at rear (very lightly foxed, and with a short split at the end of one of the folds); the other contents are in fine condition; housed in a clamshell case of quarter morocco over cloth. The earliest guidebook to Yokohama in English. This modest little booklet was one of several guides for English-speaking visitors to Japanese cities compiled by William Elliot Griffis (1843-1928).
