Along with Godfrey Giles he has 'had a long discussion' with Mr. Grigsby 'with reference to the conditions of the Lewis Berger Scholarship'. Letter 3: He knows 'Professor Richardson very well, and this is just the information which I am requiring. I will send my man on to see the secretary as you suggest'. Letter 4: He will be 'very pleased' to become a Fellow of the Society, is enclosing the form and his cheque. Letter 4: He is 'going away for a few days' and will be unable to attend the meeting of the Architectural Decoration Committee. He will be 'most happy to again act as Judge for any of the Competitions of 1931'.

First and only edition. A very large (105cm x 38cm) foldout panorama of ?The Bund - Shanghai?, large folding map (55cm x 51cm) and numerous photographic plates. Folio, measuring 38x25cm. Original decorated cloth-backed boards, bockblock cracked, but overall still a very good copy. 78pp. London, Privately Printed,  "The object of this book is, in the first place, to review the past and present activities of the firm Trollope & Colls, and at the same time to direct attention to the fact, as will be seen from the following pages, that the scope of the Company's business is not limited to building and public works contracting at home and abroad, but embraces the highest class of decorative work and furnishing, both for ships and for buildings." (p. 4). Trollope & Colls was one of the largest construction companies in the UK. It was formed in 1903 as a merger of two family firms going back to the 18th century. They were known for interior decoration (including the fitting of ocean liners), cabinet making, building, and civil engineering. The last chapter focusses on construction in Shanghai incl. the Glen Line Building, the Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank. .
