She catalogs the technological advancements of the time as well as the infrastructural development she sees on her trip.

[10] + 194 pp. Illustrated with 86 b/w and hand coloured plate engravings with additional b/w illustrations, a b/w photograph portrait, a full colour map, and a fold-out hand coloured frontispiece of a glacier. Title stamped on the front board in brown, and on the spine in gilt. Gilt stamped image of a totem pole on the front board. Deckled fore edge and foot, gilt head. Text block shows some slight browning to the head, and the occasional use mark to the leaves. Inside hinges are cracked, and there is a loose thread in the gutter at the end of the table of contents. Boards bumped and shelfworn with frayed corners. Spine is faded, frayed at the top and bottom, and has an abrasion mark just below the author's name. Overall a charming and functional copy.

Complete with eight full-page illustrations, including a frontispiece protected with tissue guard.
