One Summer's Day - autograph card of the complete cast, 1898 Autograph card, 210 x 155mm, signed by the complete cast of H. V. Esmond's One Summer's Day during its run at the Comedy Theatre, London: Charles H. Hawtrey, Henry Kemble, Cosmo Stuart, Ernest Hendrie, Kenneth Douglas, Lyston Lyle, Robert Bottomley, Eva Moore, Beatrice Ferrar, Mrs Charles Calvert, Lydia Rachel and Constance Collier. Extensive old mounting residue to the reverse, otherwise very good. One Summer's Day opened at the Comedy Theatre in September 1897. By early 1898 Beatrice Ferrar had replaced Lettice Fairfax in the role of Irene, making the signatures here a complete cast record from that stage of the original run. Set around a summer outing on the Thames, its plot combined several romantic misunderstandings amongst the cast. The play was a success and remained in the Comedy Theatre repertoire late into 1898.
