Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Voices of Home, or, Poems for the Sea' is a collection of lyrical verses by Lydia Howard Sigourney, a prolific and widely celebrated American poet of the 19th century, and Bacon Collamore. Sigourney, known as the 'Sweet Singer of Hartford,' was admired for her moral and didactic themes, often exploring nature, religion, and domestic life. This collection embodies her characteristic style, presenting poems that resonate with the beauty and power of the sea while reflecting on themes of home, faith, and the human spirit. The poems capture vivid seascapes and maritime experiences, offering readers a glimpse into the world as seen through the eyes of a poet deeply connected to both the natural world and her spiritual beliefs. Ideal for enthusiasts of classic American poetry, 'Voices of Home' provides a window into the literary sensibilities of the 1800s and the enduring allure of the ocean. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
