Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, limited (numbered 22 of 110, issued signed by Anania and Colker). Fine in purple silk jacquard (bound by Barbara Mauriello) with an onlaid print by Colker. With the cancelled bookplate of Poets House Library (indicating that the volume was donated by the publisher) on the front paste-down. With a print ("Wind's wake.") signed and titled by Colker laid in within a vellum folder, as issued. With only ten copies in institutional collections and none on the market (or having come to auction), this collection of poems by the often-overlooked poet and editor - all the rarer for being a Midwesterner rather than coastal - is quite rare. A sequence of poems written mostly in tercets, at turns spare and lyrical. Signed by Author(s).

A COLLECTION OF STORIES AND SKETCHES: PETRONIVS REDIVIVVS -- Introduction -- Summary -- Text -- Notes -- Index Nominum -- Index Rerum Memorabilium -- Index Verborum uel Significationum Inusitatiorum -- Index Auctorum et Operum Romanorum ac Medii Aeui Citatorum. - Preface: Over the past decade I have been privileged to work on the re-cataloging of the medieval Latin manuscripts at Trinity College Dublin. In the course of this effort, I came upon three unpublished medieval Latin texts that were of outstanding literary merit: a vigorous dialogue about the hypocrisy of sinful monks, which provides valuable insights into the psychology of monks who have strayed from the monastic ideal; a series of letters which reveal internal politics at the monastery of St Albans and narrate the sufferings of a student persecuted by his jealous teacher; and a collection of mainly realistic and often racy stories which derive much of their language from Petroniusthe collection also contains critical descriptions of various segments of medieval society. Through Analecta Dublinensia I wish to share with the reader these three remarkable texts, each of which, when generally known, should attain the status of a medieval classic. I transcribed them directly from the Dublin manuscripts; in the case of the letters, I depended upon an extremely clear microfilm for my collation of the Hereford manuscript, which is probably a copy of the Dublin manuscript. To provide ease of citation I divide the Latin texts into sections, marked by numbers inserted in square brackets. As closely as possible I adhere to the orthography, but not to the capitalization or punctuation, of the Dublin manuscripts. Square brackets in the texts are used to set off scribal errors which should be disregarded, whereas angular brackets enclose my editorial additions. Hardback, LXIV+183 p., 2 b/w ill., 155 x 245 m. ISBN 9782503051611. The present publication is the first printing of Constitutiones quae vocantur Ordinis Premonstratensis. The text is preserved uniquely in Trinity College Dublin manuscript 10810 of circa 1200. This manuscript with its rather frequent modifications, affords a rare view of a religious code in transition. The manuscript offers a valuable picture of the life of medieval canons. The work is rich in details about the duties of those holding positions of responsibility, about religious obligations and punishments, reading, clothes, food and drink, courtesy, and looking after the sick. Much attention is given to the schooling and behaviour of the young. An extensive introduction discusses the group of canons for whom the Constitutiones was intended, and examines the manuscript and characteristics of the text like vocabulary. Languages: Latin, English. 0 g.
