Unusual double-page frontis illustration (frontis and title page) of a "fadeaway" man, a style for which illustrator Coles Phillips was famous (though usually women subjects). The narrator of this outre novel is a doctor who, when called upon to treat a very ill little girl, finds that his patient is inflenced by a mysterious, unknown presence that lurks on the other side of the blue wall of her room.
