Cet article est divisé en 3 parties : Etude critique des techniques basées sur le procédé de Horsley Clarke ; Le repérage direct par téléradiographie des espaces ventriculaires et sous-arachnoïdiens, lignes de base ventriculaires ; Intérêt physiopathologique et thérapeutique. Les auteurs montrent que "les repérages stéréotaxiques dérivés du principe de Horsley Clarke sont grevés d'une trop grande imprécision". Ils démontrent qu'il est " plus exact de pratiquer des repérages par rapport à des lignes de base propres aux structures : lignes de base de l'étage moyen (commissure ant., commissure post.), ligne de base de l'étage postérieur (IVe Ve) à partir desquelles peuvent être établies des cartes topographiques standard.
