Brintley, in addition to being the Apostle Bishop of the Faith Church of God, was also the pastor and founder of Bethlehem Temple Church, in Shelby, North Carolina. Text includes a program for a May 8, 1963 meeting of the Faith Church of God, and prints the "Creed and Discipline Rules," regarding membership, divine healing, foot washing, collections on the street, etc. Also prints "Articles of Incorporation of the Faith Church of God," and a "Program for Funeral Service," "Form of Burial of the Dead," "Form of Solemnization of Matrimony," etc. Uncommon. Upper cover blind-lettered within lozenge "Peterson's Illustrated Uniform Edition of Humorous American Works." First combined edition of Lewis's "Odd Leaves of a Louisiana Swamp-Doctor" and Robb's "Streaks of a Squatter Life" published from remaindered leaves of both titles.
