Red half Levant Morocco with marbled boards, gilt titling and ruling to spines, top edge gilt with other edges untrimmed. Not dated, but circa 1899. "With 171 engravings on steel after the Boydell illustrations; and sixty-four photogravures chiefly from life". "Of the interlinear edition on Japanese vellum paper, there are printed for sale, five hundred copies". This set is copy number 44, which was printed for Mr. Arthur C. Briggs. Some rubbing to sides of spines with occasional light scuffs. Some light bumps and light wear to corners of boards. Previous owner's bookplate with coat of arms on front pastedown of each volume. Interiors are otherwise clean and unmarked. Bindings quite firm. A beautiful set, which due to its size and weight, may require additional shipping for expedited and international orders. .
