Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. A desirable spoken-word Tolkien recording featuring selections from The Silmarillion and Beren and Luthien, read by Christopher Tolkien, the author's son, literary executor, and principal editor of his father's posthumous works. Issued by Caedmon in 1977, the recording was produced during the period when The Silmarillion was first being introduced to a wider readership following J.R.R. Tolkien's death, and offers an especially authentic connection to the legendarium through Christopher Tolkien's own narration.  Combining passages of high fantasy, mythology, and tragic romance, the work centres on the tale of Beren and Luthien - one of the foundational stories of Tolkien's Middle-earth mythology and a narrative of particular personal significance to the author himself. J.R.R. Tolkien; The Silmarillion of Beren and Luthien, read by Christopher Tolkien.  Published by Caedmon, New York. 1977 vinyl record 33 1/3 rpm LP.  Made and printed in the USA. On the rear shrinkwrap is a label identifying the UK distributor - Teakfield Ltd., of Farnborough. Record No. TC1564. A very good (plus) example. The record retains much of its original shrinkwrap which has protected the sleeve which is in very nice condition. Some age spotting to rear. The record plays very well. Covers features Tolkien's Silmarillion map. Liner notes to rear cover by Christopher Tolkien.
