Da Lisa schon ein paar mal auf der Internationalen Spacestation war, und bereit ist, sich einem harten Training zu unterwerfen. bekommt sie ein festes Angebot und sagt zu. Traurigerweise liegt ihre Mutter zur selben Zeit, in einer Krebsklinik in Arizona, im Sterben. Lisa bittet ihren Vorgesetzten um einen Urlaub, damit sie ihre Mama ein letztes mal besuchen kann. Allerdings wird sie auf dem Weg dorthin von einem wilden Sandsturm praktisch verschluckt und hat einen schrecklichen Unfall.
