Memoirs of the French police informant whose activities were discovered during the February Revolution of 1848. The author grew up a street urchin in Paris and was himself involved in several Republican uprisings, in 1832, 1834, and 1839. Sometime in the mid-1830's he joined the army but fled back to Paris and worked as a shoemaker. This memoir, which was first published in the same year in Paris, claims that he became a "mouchard" (police informant) when he was threatened with arrest for desertion.…
