You may not know that I did the thing you suggest at the meeting for Oxford House in Magd. Hall last summer. But besides this I must respectfully say that I cannot undertake any more work than I have already on hand up to next Easter. Forgive me. I have the best will. / Charles Gore'. In den WarenkorbBroadside (c.389 x 301 mm), with large copper-engraving at head (170x271mm, 'Augspurg zu finden bey I.A.Steislinger, Jünger') and letterpress text in two columns below, typographic ornaments; creased where folded, slight darkening from an old guard verso, but generally well preserved. An attractive broadside mourning the death of CharlesVII, Holy Roman Emperor and Elector of Bavaria, with a large engraving showing his body lying in repose. CharlesVII (16971745) reigned as Elector of Bavaria from 1726 until his death and as King of Bohemia between 1741 and 1743; elected Holy Roman Emperor in 1742, he was the first and only Wittelsbach to bear the title since the fourteenth century. The lengthy poem mourns his death in exaggerated terms but is quiet on his achievements; in his short reign as Emperor he was twice driven out of Bavaria by Austrian armies, and he retook his capital Munich only with the assistance of FrederickII of Prussia, returning only three months before his death. He was, however, more successful as an artistic and architectural patron, completing Schloss Nymphenburg and making substantial additions to the Residenz. He is buried in the Theatinerkirche. No copies traced outside Germany. Language: German.

First edition. Unbound as published. [4] p. Royal order concerning the establishment and finance of schools in Indian communities in South America for the teaching of the Castilian language. This 1815 Royal order is a reinforcement and partly a reprint of a previous ordinance concerning the establishment of schools for teaching the Spanish language in the pueblos de Indios (January 28, 1778), and a supplement (November 5, 1782) which as a response to the appeal of the Corregidor de la Provincia de Paria) permits to finance these schools and provide the salary of the teachers by newly imposed taxes on the local indigenous communities. Apparently not all the desirable schools were established by 1815, and in a response to another appeal, this time by Tadeo Joaquín Gárate Cañizares' (17741827), a former Deputy of the Cortes Generales y Extraordinarias in Puno (viceroyalty of Peru), Charles III's earlier order and the encouragement of the taxation were repeated and reinforced by Ferdinand VII. Scarce, WorldCat locates only 2 copies worldwide (UC Berkeley Libraries; Harvard University). Dated on the top of the first page, and numbered at the lower left corner in ink, by a contemporary hand. Printed on Santiago Serra's paper: watermark of an ornamented Maltese cross and the word "Capellades". In fine condition. First edition. Unbound as published.
