New edition of a book whose first appearance seems to have been in 1850. By 1870 it had become an annual publication and remained so for several decades thereafter. Small octavo. pp xxiv, 170, xxxviii. A small book of great importance in those days before the creation of the welfare state. Inner hinges cracking. Foxing to prelims. Covers dusty and a bit rubbed. Good.

Two volumes bound in three first edition hard back bindings in publisher's original matching emerald green cloth covers, gilt lettering and black scroll decorations to the spines and the upper panels, different gilt vignette to each front cover, brown paper end papers, bevelled edges, three books in two volumes with volume II being in two parts. 8vo 9'' x 6''. Large fold-out maps throughout the volumes. Rebacked preserving the original spines and new corners which has now made the set very stout when handling them, without any of the usual foxing, new end papers. Dedication from the author to the top of the title page to volume I 'Lucy Crecy / Curry? from the Author.' Member of the P.B.F.A. KENT [Antiquarian].
