Nach Kapitelende immer wieder kleinere Kupferstichzierden (florales Herz, Engel etc.) Zwischen den Seiten 266-267 ist eine Seite herausgerissen vermutungsweise ein weiterer Kupferstich, da die anderen Seiten mit Kupferstich nicht mit in die Paginierung zählen. Das kleine, handliche und in dunkles Leder gebundene Buch zeigt deutliche Gebrauchsspuren und einen vergriffenen Einband, was dem ganzen aber einen altertümlichen Charme verleiht - besonders, da der Buchrücken mit in goldener Farbe gehaltenen, floralen Rauten als Zierde zwischen den fünf Bünden versehen ist. Ebenso auf dem Buchrücken zwischen zwei Bünden der Titel RELATION DE GOA in goldfarbenen Majuskeln. Auf der ersten Leerseite im Buch ist von fremder Hand in verbräunter Tinte die Zahl 1725 notiert, neben weiterer, weniger Kritzeleien auf dieser einen Seite. Alle Textseiten sind problemlos lesbar, frei von Notizen fremder Hand und sehr gut erhalten. Vermutungsweise die 2. Auflage des Buches, da die erste von 1687 stammt. Kulturgeschichte: Enthält den berühmten Reisebericht durch Indien des französischen Arztes Charles Dellon, der unter Anklage und Verurteilung der Blasphemie durch die portugiesische Inquisition für fünf Jahre eingesperrt wurde. Das Werk wurde indexiert. He worked as a ship's surgeon, and landed in Daman, Portuguese India, in 1673, where he had serious problems with the Portuguese Inquisition.The work of French physician and writer Charles Dellon, best known for his 1687 work ' Relation de l'Inquisition de Goa'. Accusé en 1674 de blasphème par le gouverneur de Daman, il fut emprisonné et soumis à la torture par le tribunal de l'Inquisition, conduit au Portugal ou il fut de nouveau emprisonné pendant cinq ans, avant d'être libéré après le procès tenu devant le Saint-Office à Lisbonne. Les notes de voyage sont très intéressantes, avec des références détaillées aux différents endroits comme le Cap Vert, le Cap de Bonne Espérance, Ceylan, le Mozambique, Madagascar, etc. L'Oeuvre fut mise à l'Index le 29 mai 1690 et Voltaire s'en inspira partiellement dans son "Candide". Barbier, IV, 210, cite la première édition de 1687, "il a exposé le résultat de ses observations avec une impartialité et une modération qui lui sont honneur". P1-14.…
