Lorna Doone, was first published in 1869, it is a romance based on a group of historical characters and set in the late 17th century in Devon and Somerset, particularly around the East Lyn Valley area of Exmoor. Contains [x] 520 printed pages of text with 16 tipped-in colour plates with the landscapes by Charles E. Brittan and figure subjects by Charles E. Brock. Just a little foxing to the early end papers, light rubbing to the covers and in Very Good clean condition, spine not faded, no dust wrapper. Member of the P.B.F.A. DEVONSHIRE (Dumnonia).

Early owner name ("Dorothy Norton. Christmas, 1933"), authors' names identified in ink on titlepage. Laid in is a loose page, which duplicates one in the book, with a note in pencil: "A sample page of the ill-fated book" [and then in ink]: "John Strong's". Therein a story lies, we just don't know what it is yet. *OCLC* locates no copies.
