A lovely copy of this first edition. An interesting English guide dedicated to horse owners, illustrated with a beautiful steel engraving (first printing). based on a work by the author Harry Hieover pseudonym of Charles Bindley (1795/61859).Half tan morocco, smooth spine decorated with blind stamped design, gilded title, green percaline boards, the first decorated with a gilt decoration. The boards and spine are in good, clean condition. A touch of rubbing only. Internally the book is in very nice condition. Some light foxing otherwise very good copy. Bookplate of Alfred André, a great bibliophile, from a Nimes Protestant family who made their money in the silk trade, then in banking. Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. First editions. Two volumes. Tall octavos. Each volume with a tiny attractive new booksellers label (one from Liverpool, the other from Belfast) else just about fine in publisher's cloth. The two volumes might be a made-up set (spine fading on one of the volumes is greater than the other), although they came to us together. Curiously, although bound in what looks to be uniform publisher's cloth, one volume also has a small binder's label as well. A lovely set.
