Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Third edition. Octavo. xvi, 110, 16pp., (with 16 pages of advertisements at the front and back). Illustrated with wood engravings, one double-page: "Map of Philadelphia 1875" by Samuel L. Smedley, and a frontispiece plate of the Continental Hotel engraved by R. Whitechurch. Lacking the front wrapper which served as a title page. Bound in contemporary half morocco and cloth over boards, marbled endpapers, gilt spine with raised bands, gilt stamped leather label on front cover: "Philadelphia And Its Environs / E. Chapman". Rubbing and a few light scratches to the boards, front joint is partially split at the head and tail, very good. A well-preserved copy in a handsome binding most likely designed for Edwin O. Chapman, author of the 1876 guide book: *New York to Washington*, and publisher and editor of the magazine: *The Bookseller, Newsdealer, and Stationer*.
