Champlin (1854-1928) was born, raised, and died in Westerly, Rhode Island, although for a good part of his life he lived in Worcester and Fall River, Massachusetts. He was by turns a journal…ist, author, and poet. A slim volume of verse which were it not for its publisher would likely have been long forgotten. "This scarce book is noted by Winterich in his article on Newton imprints (no. 4) and states there are two different cover colors. Winterich believed that Newton published this book was some indication that his publishing firm was more than just a vanity press and actually had some reputation in the field of publishing" (Oak Knoll Catalogue 86, no. 403).
