First Edition. Good to very good copies all in contemporary half calf over marbled boards, now with minor surface-wear and some minor abrasions. Panel edges and corners show some wear. Spines gilt-tooled with raised bands and leather labels, the former slightly rubbed along with joints and endbands, and the latter partly or entirely lacking on a few volumes. Some joints cracked, with hinges weak and board becoming loose. Vol. 19 bottom edge shows a stain, with text unaffected. Marble endpapers; preliminary and final leaves foxed. Core text blocks remain uniformly strong, showing only the expected faint foxing and offsetting of age. A well-preserved set overall.
