Black letters and sword on spine; letters on front cover are reverse stamped on a black banner. Green cloth. Joints and top and bottom edges have darkened, as have the text block ends. Illustrations on endpapers are greentone. 5 full page, 1 double page, and other small illustrations are b & w. A 1 in. peeled tear on the title page has been neatly rejoined with glue. P. 173/174 has a corner missing; does not effect text. DJ: numerous chips; 16 one in. pieces of tape across closed tears and crease lines on the reverse side; folds and spine panel have rubbed spots; front panel has lt. brown stain.
