Eustachio Celebrino was born in the late fifteenth century in Udine, in the Friuli region of the Venetian empire, and later claimed to have studied medicine and philosophy at the University of Padua, though details of his early life remain uncertain. By the mid-1520s he shifted toward writing and editing vernacular pamphlets on popular subjects including household advice, medical remedies, poetic tales, and handwriting manuals such as Il modo di imparare di scrivere lettera mercantesca, reproduced here in facsimile.
