Candreia selbst hatte eine monographische Schrift zu dieser spezifischen kriegshistorischen und -technischen Frage verfasst (Der Umgehungsberg in der Calvenschlacht. Eine kritisch-polemische Studie. Chur 1899, 62 SS.; Barth 1139; digitalis. in e-rara) - Heute würde man wohl sagen, die 'Denkschrift' sei eine für den Geist des Historismus typische heroisierende (und glorifizierende) Darstellung - "Die Schlacht an der Calven war die entscheidende Auseinandersetzung eines bündnerischen mit einem tirolischen Heer im Schwabenkrieg, in dem die Eidgenossen mit ihren Bündnispartnern des Grauen und des Gotteshausbunds gegen den Schwäbischen Bund und König Maximilian I. kämpften. [.] Nach erfolglosen Einbruchsversuchen schwäb. Kriegsvolks auf St. Luzisteig und im Prättigau konzentrierte Maximilian seinen Hauptangriff an der Ostflanke, im oberen Vinschgau. An der Calven [.] liess er eine Talsperre (Festung) errichten. Hier schlugen die Bündner am 22.5. mittels eines Umgehungsmanövers das gegnerische Heer vernichtend.
