A facsimile of the 'Author's Favourite Edition' originally published by Chapman & Hall. On the verso of the half title it states : This is an exact facsimilie in every de…tail of text and illustration, excepting on the title pages, of the last edition of his works published under the eye of Charles Dickens, and described by him as 'this is the best edition of my books.' The Style of Binding being also copied from the original. At the time of publication one of Dickens' most popular novels, telling of the trials of Nell Trent & her grandfather, who's lives are almost ruined by the moneylender Quilp. The last part of the book is a collection of 31 essays & short stories. 975 grams.
